While
most girls were singing into their hairbrushes to New Kids on the Block, Tiffany
was oblivious to any dreams of “stardom”. As a pre-teen, she hadn’t even thought
of what the future would hold for her life. With her early teen years on the
rise, however, she began praying simply for God’s direction for her future…for a
career that would bless others.
Her music career started for her unknowingly at age eight, when
she sang with her mother in church. It continued sporadically, but singing was
just a hobby until she turned fifteen. Tiffany was volunteering at a nursing
home at the time, and she noticed the people loved it when music was played for
them, but some couldn't make it out of their rooms to enjoy it. She wanted to
sing for them, but couldn't haul the family's keyboard from one room to the
next. A garage sale purchase held the answer to her predicament. At this sale
was a guitar with a bent neck, but still playable, for seven-dollars. She found
books and videos at the nearest library, semi-mastering a few chords that
enabled her to sing a small array of songs. With this first guitar she fell in
love with God's gift of music.
Tiffany's
youth pastor heard about her endeavors through her parents. He asked her to sing
for worship on a Wednesday night, and the rest…is history. From there she began
writing songs and learning from other musicians by watching them play. Her
church's worship pastor gave her tips and advice as to how she should play
songs, while friends helped her out with the popular songs she wanted to learn
and extra finger work.
Her father and mother greatly supported her
musical interests, recognizing a God-given talent, and put her into a junior
talent contest held by the nationally syndicated Steve and DC in the Morning
show. Her first in-studio appearance she won, in the judges' own words, "hands
down". For this appearance she sang a song she wrote, Sound of Rain, which is
now the title track on her just released CD. With the $500 prize money, she
bought a new electric-acoustic guitar, and started writing more
music.
Tiffany's family, at this time, was trying to find a home for
their family dog Gideon. The word was put out at Airedale Antiques in St.
Charles that her family was looking for a good home for him. A lady visiting
from Branson, Missouri, spoke to the owner of the store and told them she was
looking for an Airedale. Not so ironically, the woman's husband just so happened
to be a musician and has a ministry to musicians in the Branson area. This music
connection was discovered when Tiffany and her family drove to Branson to
complete their pet adoption. Tiffany's parents, after finding out about this
music connection asked for a professional opinion. It was favorable and the
offer was extended to help Tiffany in any way possible. Before long a four-track
demo CD was recorded, and the tracks were being heard in five different
states!
Tiffany finished a ten-track CD, and wants more than
ever to use the gift that God has given her. From a questioning adolescent to an
adult with a mission in life, she is now undertaking the
biggest challenge she has ever faced - impacting the world with her
music.
